IRNSS - Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System

The Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS) is a satellite navigation system, similar to GPS or GLONASS - but it's coverage will be limited to India. It is being developed by ISRO and would be under complete control of the Indian government.

Technical Details

The system consists of 7 satellites
  • 3 satellites in a geostationary orbit over India
  • 4 satellites in sun-synchronous orbit
Target Accuracy
  • 10 meters throughout the Indian landmass
  • 20 meters in regions around the country
